Innovatix was founded on one core principle: to meet the ever-evolving needs of our members. To keep pace with our members and their markets, Innovatix offers more than 2,000 contracts from over 900 industry-leading suppliers. As a GPO, we ensure that our members have the right products and services―at the right price. But Innovatix also provides value-added services to support member business, education, and regulatory challenges.
Owned by Premier, Innovatix has been serving pharmacies, senior living providers, and independent oncology practices since 1993. As our name suggests, we are always innovating, extending the deep discounts and member-focused service model we created for our 43,000+ members representing healthcare, K–12 educational institutions, and the broader business community.
Our affiliated GPO, Essensa, serves an additional 28,000 members, including healthcare providers such as physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, and home health; as well as non-healthcare industries including hospitality, sports and recreation, and colleges and universities.
Innovatix members pay no fees to join nor are they required to meet any type of purchasing minimum.
Our members buy as much as they want, as often as they want, and receive commensurate savings.
Timeline of Innovation
Continuous innovation has been a theme throughout Innovatix’s history. As part of Premier, our roots lie in healthcare. We built our reputation as a group purchasing organization primarily for pharmacies and grew to serve senior living providers and independent oncology practices. We have since expanded our scope to offer Innovatix services to the broader healthcare and business marketplaces.
1993
GNYHA Alternate Care Purchasing Corporation is formed.
1998
GNYHA Alternate Care Purchasing Corporation becomes Innovatix.
2002
Ownership of Innovatix becomes 50% GNYHA Ventures and 50% Premier, a leading healthcare improvement company.
2008
Launch of Innovatix Government Affairs program―designed to advocate on behalf of our members, advise them about legislation that could impact their businesses, and offer opportunities for members to influence the legislative process.
2009
Essensa, Innovatix’s affiliate GPO, is formed to provide savings and value to additional healthcare classes of trade as well as other industries, such as hospitality, recreation, and municipal governments.
2013
Launch of the Innovatix Specialty Pharmacy Management Program (ISPM), a service that offers customized, strategic solutions for pharmacies interested in serving specialty patients.
2013
Launch of InnovatixCares, the nation’s first non-acute care-focused population health management network dedicated to assisting providers through the transition to accountable care.
2015
Development of Innovatix Business & Industry, our latest procurement offering, which is curated to provide savings and value to the business community, including retailers; legal, financial, and professional services firms; and more.

Introduction of Scriptmax™, a pharmacy claims analytics service that empowers pharmacies with actionable claims review data during every step of adjudication.

Premier, a leading healthcare improvement company, assumes full ownership of Innovatix and Essensa.
